2008 Algebra 2 Honors June Opportunity Day (aka Final Exam) Details
8:15-10:00 Wednesday, June 11th 2008
As with any test, the most important thing is that you demonstrate as much good mathematics as possible. Use your time wisely- 105 minutes is a long time, but you will probably want to use it all. Some of you will finish early. If you do, take a break and then start checking answers and re-doing those that are incorrect.
Coverage:
Our nine units covered chapters 2-13 in your text book as well as the short subjects on exponents and radicals on p. 70 and linear programming on p. 466. It will consist of 49 questions assessing this material. There will be one page of eight questions to do without a calculator (including some fractions!) and the rest can be done with your calculator. The non-calculator section is worth 8 marks, and the calculator section is worth 49 marks.
To review:
Skim through the relative portions of the text to remind yourself of the text's take on the topics.
Do the Opportunity Day revision homework assignments. Do additional problems from the worked examples at hotmath.com.
Take a look at your Supercorrections from your old unit tests- do you feel more confident now?
Rework those tests if possible.
As you review, ask yourself what problems you should expect to see on the Opportunity Day.
Take notes on your cheat sheet.
On the day of the Opportunity Day:
Make sure you're well rested- don't stay up late the night before and then try to compensate with an energy drink. Energy drinks do not focus your mind- studies show they make it more difficult to think and concentrate.
Get to the Opportunity Day early if possible.
Don't forget your cheat sheet!
Bring a ruler, pencil, eraser, graph paper, and calculator.
During the Opportunity Day:
Don't panic.
Remember that the only way to get a zero on the exam is to skip it, do nothing, or cheat.
